You will write three book reviews, approximately 1000 words in length. Book reviews should be written for a general audience.

Technical Instructions

1. Login to Web CT and submit your book reviews in the Assignments area. I will be grading the version you submit in Web CT.
2. Here in PBwiki, create a new wiki page and paste the contents of your review onto the page.
3. Be sure to Tag your wiki with the appropriate terms. Create some if necessary.
4. Add your page to the Cyberpunk folder.
5. Add a link to your page in the Book Reviews area of the main Cyberpunk Literature page.

Rhetorical Instructions

(i.e. what should I write?)

I am guessing that you are not unfamiliar with the genre of book reviews. There are general audience book reviews in magazines like Time. There are also book reviews in newspapers, including the NY Times Review of Books, though those reviews are often longer than what I have asked you to write. You could even look at book reviews on Amazon.com, though those reviews are often shorter and more amateurish than what I'd like to see from you.

If you like, I'd be happy to open a discussion where we read a couple book reviews and discuss their rhetorical features.

Additional Instructions

As you are writing three reviews, you obviously do not have to write about every novel we are reading. In fact, if you want to write a review about a different novel or film or other media we can discuss that. The primary requirement is that you have to be reviewing something in the genre of cyberpunk. I am likely to be fairly open to the idea, as long as you stay within the genre, since I think the site and the class will benefit from a broader range of reviews.
